Oh I love that Nadya Williams article! My eight year old is always curating his "museum exhibitions" on our walls. And I'm the same about being frugal on curriculum so that we can spend more on things like tape, glue sticks, index cards, and the paper plates they love making heraldic shields and masks out of. I would love to hear how you manage all your kids' artistic creations though. I feel like I will be buried alive one day under all the art projects.

Haha, I don't manage them really. The kids have a few designated spaces they are supposed to keep things like that, and every so often (quarterly? maybe? almost always before Christmas though!) when those places are overflowing I make them go through and decide what they want to keep. I have one small box in a closet where I keep a few of my own personal favorites from over the years which I haven't filled yet because after years of effort, I have become increasingly ruthless about clutter and can make myself throw out almost anything.

Ah I could certainly stand to become more ruthless about the clutter, even my own clutter. One of my favorite children's book illustrators, Dahlov Ipcar, tells of how her artistic bohemian parents gave her free reign to make loads and loads of artwork all over their apartment, and her life trajectory always gives me hope when I'm foundering in the piles of kid art.

Love the “word hoard” 😂 Stashing that away for when my daughter’s doing most of her school reading on her own

I had no idea that Latin quiz bowl existed, but I love that.

Oh, Laura, it is very much A Thing! https://www.njcl.org/NJCL-Convention/Convention-Contests/Certamen

All the matches at nationals were streamed online this year, so our younger kids were able to watch their big brother and sister compete from home, which was really fun.
